Establishing a Connection

or: The Life and Death of an IT ticket in the Age of AI
or: A GPU Ghost Story for the Terminally Online
or: A Gradient Descent into Madness

(First time author, working on something silly inspired by many ideas discussed here and on Twitter. I'm trying to combine elements of rationalist and weird fiction, while bridging current concerns about AI regulation, alignment, and interpretability with the established corpus of cyberpunk that inspired today's tech. Neuromancer, Snow Crash, and Mr. Robot are the most obvious inspirations at work here. It's also a love letter to video games, or the most overwritten WoW fanfic of all time.

I have sixty chapters written so far and I've got no idea what I'm going to do with this story once it's finished. Looking for any/all feedback, even negative, and especially looking for feedback on the technical explanations in the seventh chapter. If I've made any gross violations of community norms, please tell me.

PS: If anyone actually likes it, I'm potentially looking for a technical consultant.)
