The theory and practice of human rationality is currently at an embryonic stage. Religion runs rampant in the streets; it is not widely known that there is a systematic discipline of proper choice and belief. Some aspiring rationalists have a sense that more is possible: a belief that a much more advanced art of rationality is possible to humans, that simply has not yet been developed. The LessWrong project itself is part of this endeavor.
