Yudkowsky's 84Th Law

Yudkowsky's 84th Law (or Yudkowsky's Rule of Skynet Analogies), so named for Eliezer Yudkowsky, is an Internet adage asserting that "As a discussion about AI (Artificial General Intelligence) grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Skynet or Paperclip maximizers approaches 1" - that is, if a conversation about artificial or machine intelligences continues for long enough, regardless of venue or scope, someone will eventually bring up Unfriendly artificial intelligence.

Coined in 2016 during a Less Wrong Australia online hangout (during which said law proved its efficacy), the term is expected to gain wide use as the Singularity approaches.

Eliezer Yudkowsky renamed this from "Yudkowsky's Law" to "Yudkowsky's 84th Law" on the grounds that his name ought to be associable with at least 83 generalizations more important than this one.
