Isn't there an inherrant threat attached to being wrong? I agree there is a higher layer of embarrassment / shame in being caught in an error - but deeper down doesn't being wrong signal that our perception is off in some way. If I'm wrong about this thing, what else might I be wrong about? If we can't take correction we have to take offense because by admitting our error we make ourselves - and therfore our perceptions - vulnerable. I feel that we are initially wired to trust our perception / opinion but also in a childlike way we generally accept our errors as part of the learning process. But there... (read more)
