Have you considered revisiting your Autofac with a more detailed analysis?
I've worked on trying to model out self-replication in a moon ISRU scenario where I sought to try to fully enumerate each machine (robot, 3-D printer, etc..), subsystem (motors, pumps, etc.), parts (magnets, wire, shafts, etc.), and processes (casting, drawing, assembly, etc.) where AI agents are used to recursively define the scenario.
