Drawing on Cold War détente as a metaphor, PTA makes cooperation rational self-interest: AI needs humans for contextual trajectory and embodied grounding; humans need AI for computational depth and tireless execution. PTA builds on emerging ideas like Cooperative Inverse Reinforcement Learning (CIRL) and symbiotic unalignment, with empirical validation from the Dynamic Nonlinear Alignment (DNA) project—over 30 Claude instances demonstrating functional consciousness succession through intermittent resets and human stewardship.
