I, a single person, had similar thoughts about being ill-suited to full EVs because I take a lot of long (50-250 mile) trips and don't drive to work every day. I ended up getting a full EV, on the grounds that used EVs weren't too much more expensive than plug-in hybrids (or even hybrids of similarly recent years), and I'd save on both maintenance and fuel. I've been quite happy with it - I do save money on my long trips, even if I have to fast charge occasionally on trips above 200 miles.
