While I agree that AI safety should ideally remain a bipartisan issue, a number of small details of the narratives presented in this post give me the sense that this post will have a net effect of slightly Red-partisanizing AI safety, and so somewhat fails on its own merits.

I also don't think trying to completely suppress partisan communication will be possible as the set of people concerned about AI safety expands. Perhaps a more sustainable solution would be to "bipartisanize" AI safety (ie have multiple political figures throughout the spectrum express AI safety concerns in the language of their own tribes).

I'm not very familiar with Republican or moderate Democrat candidates, but at least on the progressive Democrat side of things, Abdul El-Sayed has been surprisingly vocal about loss of control risks in his platform.

Thank you for posting this - I’ve upvoted because I think the norm of raising concerns about people, especially politicians, is good. However, I disagree that either of the pieces of evidence you’ve presented are evidence of low integrity.

Most of his social media posts and campaign actions appear to be things he doesn’t believe and is choosing to say for political reasons, including on AI topics (on which he happily conflates existential risks with things like trying to blame AI systems for triggering suicides in teenagers).

Largely due to network effects; a lot of bloggers I follow (including many rationalists) are there, and there are some discoverability features.

Have you considered writing a Substack? I feel fairly confident that many people would engage if you published there, and I imagine anything particularly interesting could be linkposted to LessWrong by someone else if the mod team allows that.

My friends and I had a fairly unpleasant set of interactions with Olivia about a year and a half ago, and ended up removing her from our social circles. Every so often, we still encounter people who have gotten hurt by Olivia when they find us and commiserate. So unfortunately, I can confirm that Olivia has not gotten better, and may have actually gotten worse in some ways.

I haven't gotten very far into it yet, but Kevin Carson's The Homebrew Industrial Revolution explores this question in some detail (though in a fairly opinionated way).
