Reducing unjustified dismissiveness towards ideas takes time - how can I shorten it?

I have recently noticed that if I put distance (time) between myself and criticism, or ideas I have good reasons to believe I will disagree with on principle (e.g. someone I consider obnoxious has written them), then putting distance makes me much more receptive to them.

Has anyone figured out to do this more quickly?

I notice often that I feel e.g.:

  1. upset when i think other people are more credit of mentioning an idea that I've already thought, because they have higher standing in the community
  2. annoyed when someone brings up a class of ideas that i feel have been over-emphasised (e.g. extreme risk aversion on certain topics)
