||why iced cream? Sure, maybe to make it solid, but why does that matter?
The first drinks other than water were only made almost 10 thousand years ago, relatively early in the evolutionary scale. We've spent a lot more time just surviving on solid foods and drinking water than drinking anything else.
There was an experiment where one group was given some amount of calories in jellybeans and a second group was given the same amount of calories in drink form. The first group felt full, and naturally adjusted their calorie intake for the day to account for the jellybeans. The second group, however, reported they felt normal and ate as much as they would have if they hadn't drank their serving.
Where im going with this is that consuming ice cream as a meal with a spoon likely makes it feel a lot more like a sweet treat than if we drank it out of cups, which i expect would be more like sampling a sugary flavor.
