@lsusr As someone who experienced enlightenment, I am curious about your thoughts on axiology. Do you think that there can, at least hypothetically, be a world with conscious beings that is better than a completely empty world? You can imagine this world to be as good as you want and you can fill out the details in any way you want.
Reading this conversation a year later, I can't help but wonder what @Ape in the coat thinks about this. If a completely unrelated argument (Laplace's sunrise) confirms the results of another argument (Doomsday argument), then that seems to increase the likelihood that the conclusion of Doomsday argument, and thus the argument itself, is right. Do you not agree, Ape in the coat? Or do you think that Laplace's sunrise argument is also wrong?
This is an excellent analysis and I would love to hear @RogerDearnaley's thoughts on it. Seems very pertinent to the discussion.
@RogerDearnaley do you plan on following up on this? I have similar concerns to Seth, so I would love to hear your thoughts on them.
