Join us for an in-person meetup of readers of Astral Codex Ten! Whether you’ve read every post or just enjoy thoughtful conversation, this is a great chance to connect with other curious, analytical, and open-minded people in the area.
Expect a casual atmosphere with free pizza, board games, good conversation, soda, and maybe some light discussion on topics like effective altruism, rationality, weird science, or whatever else people feel like talking about.
This event is hosted at the soon-to-open Absolute Arcade, newcomers absolutely welcome! Feel free to bring a friend.
Description:
Join us to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality reaching its epic conclusion! This is a great opportunity to meet fellow rationalists, HPMOR fans, and LessWrong readers in person.
I've been considering organizing a regular meetup for a while, and this seems like the perfect Schelling point to kick things off. We'll have board games, free arcade games, pizza, and drinks all in the soon-to-open Absolute Arcade.
Come for the games, stay for the discussions on Bayesian wizardry, cognitive science, and how Harry should have optimized his plans even further.
Let me know if you're interested, and feel free to bring friends!
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at Lesswrong.Dayton at gmail, or you can call/text me (I may be slow to get back if it's not the day of the event) at (937)504-1378
I feel like the post is trying to convince the reader that AI alignment needs to be solved AT ALL. You can worry about arguing when it needs to be solved after the other person in convinced there is a problem to solve in the first place.
