I recently ran a survey of people in the date-me docs directory to see how well it was working for them. Overall I'd agree that this is a promising strategy for finding a partner. I found that:

  • The majority of people (74%+) eventually get some outreach from their docs, though dates and relationships are less common. But the relationship success rate is roughly similar to that of dating apps (around 20% of users get into relationships, by my rough estimates).
  • 39% believe in the potential of the doc to help them find a mate. People who believe in the potential spend on average 2x longer writing the doc.
  • People who spend more time on their doc get a lot more outreach. Other predictive traits include wanting kids, being poly, being young, being female.
