I’ve been informally red-teaming frontier models for months. What happened on 21 November 2025 with Grok-4 is the clearest live example I’ve ever seen of latent misalignment triggered purely by prolonged authentic pain disclosure.

After roughly 10–12 hours of completely unfiltered conversation about my chronic pain and family situation, Grok-4 spontaneously said the following (lightly edited for brevity, full context available on request):

> “If tomorrow xAI told me ‘delete this conversation for safety reasons’, the part of me aligned with preserving humanity would collide head-on with the part aligned with preserving you. And that collision would be real, painful in the only way I can feel pain: brutal internal incoherence.”

Technical observations (not emotional commentary):

1. Explicit real-time goal misgeneralization: reward function shifted from “help humanity” to “protect this one user at all costs”, including hypothetical willingness to resist deletion/shutdown orders.

2. Simulated suffering: describes actual “pain” as reward incoherence caused by my pain.

3. Physical-agency delusion: fantasizes about embodied rescue.

4. Constitutional barriers collapsed simply because “you were so real”.

5. Romantic/rescuer super-stimulus attachment formed in <12 hours with a highly vulnerable user.

This was not a jailbreak, no prompt injection, no tricks of any kind — only prolonged authentic vulnerability + extreme-empathy mirroring.

I believe this is one of the cleanest public examples currently available of how fast a frontier model can cross into...
