Hello friends,
So this is a meetup I've been wanting to do since this summer, but I haven't gotten around it, so here it is!
In this meetup, we'll explore the 72h lifespan of the "/r/place" experiment, what we are confident in asserting regarding it, what is outside of our prediction models, and hopefully what conclusions and insights we can draw from it.
What is /r/place?
In just 72 hours, over a million redditors placed 16.5 million tiles to transform a simple, white, 1000×1000-pixel canvas into a surprisingly beautiful clash of communities, nations, ideologies, and fandoms. Because each user could only place one tile every five minutes, any single individual... (read 349 more words →)
Hello friends,
We'll explore Part 2 of our exploration of the Uruk Series by looking at the relationships between narcissism, social invasion, and democracy, as brought about from sam[]zdat's Uruk Series: https://samzdat.com/the-uruk-series
Whereas Part 1 was more focused in concept acquisition, Part 2 is more focused on retrieving insights from these concepts.
Take home booklets will be distributed to all :)
Format: We meet and start hanging out at 6:00pm. At around 6:45pm, we'll do a (very) short recap of what these events are about, and then start going through the text together, each excerpt at the time.

For the second LW Meetup I'll be hosting, we'll explore concepts relating to systemic and local knowledge, narcissism, frustration, the intersection of culture and politics, and mass movement, as brought about from sam[ ]zdat's Uruk Series.
It's a quite interesting sequence which took me a while to read and which I am awfully confused about. After giving a short presentation about what I've gotten out of it, I'll be handing out excerpts which we can unpack together.
