[Note the new date for this meetup! I swear this is the last time it will change.]
Meet in front of the Davenport Branch of the Toronto Public Library (1246 Shaw St) at 1:50 pm. From there we'll walk to the actual meetup location at a private residence. Try not to be late! If you have been around before, feel free to go directly to the private residence at 2pm.
This week, we'll be discussing the relationship between work and meaning. Maybe work won't exist in a few years; what then? Maybe you already do not work. How do you fill your days?
Prior to the meetup, think about if you know anyone who did not hold a traditional job for long periods of their lives. They could be retired, or taking care of family, or otherwise just not engaging with the formal job sector. If you can, talk to them for a bit about what their lives are like, both in terms of how they spend their time, and in terms of their inner lives.
Have you had any unstructured period in your life? How did it go?
What's the most significant scarcity in your own life right now? Do you foresee a future where that scarcity would turn into abundance? How would your life change?
If everything in the world was free, what sorts of things, experiences, or lifestyles would you be drawn to?
If your wages were $0 for everything, what would you work on?
Hi!!! I am so sorry for the last minute rugpull but I am rescheduling this AGAIN because I picked up something at the last con I was at and I suspect that I am still contagious. Next week is, sadly(?), Thanksgiving, which means family plans for many of you. As a hedge I've decided to reschedule for Saturday rather than Sunday, in hopes that some of you can get out of the house then. See you OCTOBER 10 AT 2PM!!!!!
Also the link for Mingyuan's piece has been updated.
