Winter was once a far harsher force, leaving our ancestors at its mercy and often taking loved ones with it. Today, we’ve overcome that challenge; staving off the cold and lighting the darkness. In this way, winter both literally represents one of the greatest challenges we've overcome, as well as metaphorically represents the challenges we still face. Much has changed for the better, but one thing remains: light and warmth are still needed to beat back the darkness.
Come join Kansas City Rationality & Effective Altruism for an evening of vegan food, live music, and prose as we meditate on the darkness of the world, and celebrate the arc of progress, science, and the indomitable human spirit.
The event itself is free. Free hot chocolate will be provided, and other drinks (including things like lattes) will be available for purchase from the on-site coffee bar. Bringing vegan* food, potluck-style, is strongly encouraged! We will begin the evening with a period of food and fellowship, then convene for 90 minutes of music and prose.
This is taking place in the "Arts on Broadway" event space, inside Post Coffee (down the stairs).
*vegan means strictly no animal products whatsoever, including meat, gelatin, dairy, eggs, honey, etc
