Ok, I realize it's the 4th of July! And lots of folks will be out of town, or have other plans. But we're doing a meetup anyway! The topic will be nationalism: is nationalism an embarrassing relic we should outgrow? An important instrument for social cohesion that we mock at our peril? Is it really in tension with the liberal emphasis on personal autonomy? Is personal autonomy overrated anyhow?
In preparation, please read Scott's Strong Gods post if you haven't already. We've covered it in previous meetups, but I thought we left enough meat on the bones that it's worth coming back to.
We'll be hosting the event at Mox, a co-working space in SoMa. Please RSVP here, or, if you don't want to make an account, send an email to 34251super@gmail.com, so I can email you the door code.
