[Anyone reading this is welcome to attend, even if you're not a regular at the ACX meetups]
As the year comes to an end, the days have grown shorter and the nights have grown longer. Tonight we remember the ancient days of humanity's past, and sing of the future we might hope for.
The Montréal Solstice Celebration will be on December 13th.
Doors open at 18:30, solstice starts at 19:00.
Please arrive on time to avoid disrupting the somber and more serious
parts of the program.
If you have never been to a Secular Solstice in this style before, you should expect alternating speeches and songs, some social pressure to join in the singing, and discussion of death in the speeches. If you'd like an idea of what these events traditionally look like check out this recording of the 2022 Bay Area Solstice.
We're strongly encouraging guests to bring their own performances!
If you have a song or a short essay/story that's related to
rationality or to end of year celebrations of any kind, then suggest it
and we'll add it to the list. You'll have the opportunity to perform it
and/or other suggestions during the event.
There's no obligation to perform if you're not up for it
but I'd highly recommend it!
Bring your own drinks. Some food will be provided, but pleae bring your own too.
RSVP by clicking "Going" at the top of this post.
