Edit: Adding Tim's e-mail:
This month we'll have Gabor Dobos give a talk about what he is working on. He leads a small Budapest-based techno-optimist nonprofit that is dedicated to research, education, and public outreach on future technologies.
Here is his explanation of what he is doing: "The Prometheus Society was founded out of a desire to better understand the technologies shaping our future. Relying solely on news reports makes it easy to misjudge their significance, and difficult to distinguish real progress from hype. To avoid these pitfalls, we consult directly with engineers and scientists working at the forefront of each field to validate our assessments. We monitor transformative, general-purpose technologies expected to reshape everyday life over the next 5 to 15 years, concentrating on six domains: electrification, spaceflight, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, humanoid robotics, and brain–computer interfaces."
Here is his group website

And here is his substack
I honestly don't know quite what to expect from him visiting, but I expect it to be fairly interesting, and at the very least I'm sure the techno pessimists amongst us will enjoy talking to someone who is a techno optimist.
