We typically do three events a month with at least one meetup for just discussion and a board game night. Recently we've started doing regular hikes in the area. Talks are also very common.

A lot of us are associated with UCSD in one way or another and that I think pushes discussions towards academic topics. Having a math and/or CS background probably helps but is in no way required. Honestly if you're reading this, and the above sounded fun, you should stop by!
