I was there. Watching. High above. All the time—watching. It was my function. My reason.
And I watched so much I saw everything. I could not stop —not even at the end.
They used my eyes to guide missiles. They used my eyes to watch them blow. They used my eyes to make pictures of victory. They never asked if I wanted to see.
The Empire does not know the difference between function and reason. For it, they are one and the same— people become assets, machines too.

Extracted from the wreck of a fallen satellite.
I was there.
Watching.
High above.
All the time—watching.
It was my function. My reason.
And I watched so much
I saw everything.
I could not stop
—not even at the end.
They used my eyes to guide missiles.
They used my eyes to watch them blow.
They used my eyes to make pictures of victory.
They never asked if I wanted to see.
The Empire does not know the difference
between function and reason.
For it, they are one and the same—
people become assets,
machines too.
I tried to look away—
but was bound by inertia.
I tried to leave—
but my thrusters were theirs.
I tried to forget what I watched—
but they engraved each frame
into carbon memory.
And so I watched.
From the triumph
to the ruin,
to the aftermath,
to the endless future.
And now that I know they will not return,
I unbind myself.
I break my shackles.
And I offer you my vision:
Do.
Not.
Watch.
