My username a few minutes ago was Chastity Ruth. It is now my real name. I'm not a big user here so for most people this couldn't matter less. This post is just here so I can explain quickly, should this come up later.
The original name was so that I would post at all. Anonymity was my way of allowing me to break a cardinal rule of mine: don't post on the internet.
I didn't think the account would go anywhere, but it became the most convenient way to post other things I've written.
I like some of those things, and would prefer to have them exist under my own name. Also (hopefully not embarrassingly) I now have a Substack thing where I will link posts to and from.
The name wasn't random, growing up "Chastity" always struck me as a risible name to give anyone. Also, I find double first names and surnames that are shorter than first names awkward. So Chastity Ruth.
I feel bad about both the anonymity and the gender implication of "Chastity".
I am now in regular breach of my rule of not posting on the internet. I will no doubt soon discover whether this rule is stupid or smart.
