Discussion article for the meetup : West LA Meetup - Mind-Hacking Planning Session

WHEN: 25 April 2012 07:00:00PM (-0700)

WHERE: 10850 West Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064

When: 7:00pm - 9:00pm Wednesday, April 11th.

Where: The Westside Tavern in the upstairs Wine Bar (all ages welcome), located inside the Westside Pavillion on the second floor, right by the movie theaters.

Parking is free for 3 hours.

Activity: We are going to discuss and plan out our approach to future experiments with habits, attention, memory, and various heuristics. One of the key things we have to figure out is how to do measurements, accounting for confirmation bias, etc.

We may focus on a specific sort of experiment, such as building skills modulating mindfulness, evaluating techniques for fermi problems, building habits, or other experiments training us to be more strategic and rational at a System 1 level.

Or we could play The Resistance.

Don't worry if you don't have time to read any links, or even if you've never read any Less Wrong! Bring a friend! The atmosphere is casual, and good, intelligent conversation with friendly people is guaranteed.

I will bring a whiteboard with Bayes' Theorem written on it.

"The Resistance" sounds like "Paranoia", a game I've always wanted to play but never have.
