What: Secular celebration of the Summer Solstice. It's a big picnic at the park, basically.
When: Saturday, June 21st, the Summer Solstice
Where: Point Pinole Regional Park, East Bay
Who: Anyone who is reading this. This is for all members of the rationalist, LessWrong, EA, and secular communities. Even if you are not a "typical" LW reader. Even if you've never been to one of these before.
Why: Because ritual and socialization are both important
How: Please RSVP on Partiful Here!
The days are getting longer and warmer. Join us on the longest day of the year for a secular celebration of the summer solstice. As the sun reaches its zenith, we will celebrate warmth, light, and community.
This event is for everyone in the rationalist, secular, effective altruist, and adjacent communities.
Activities may include:
* Capture the flag
* Singing circles
* Scavenger hunt
* Picnicking
* Watching the sunset
* Board games
* Exploring the park
* This event is intended to be kid-friendly for all ages
A variety of events will occur throughout the afternoon, and as the sun suts, we will form a musical procession to the sea.
A $15 donation is suggested but not required to cover the cost of food and other supplies. All are welcome regardless of ability to contribute. Please RSVP on Partiful so we know how much food to get!
If you would like to help organize events or create props like lights to help us celebrate, please post in the comments or email an organizer at richardson.andrew@gmail.com.
