[Link] 2012 Winter Intelligence Conference videos available

Pablo

The Future of Humanity Institute has released video footage of the 2012 Winter Intelligence Conference. The videos currently available are:

Stuart Armstrong - Predicting AI... or Failing to
Miles Brundage - Limitations and Risks of Machine Ethics
Steve Omohundro - Autonomous Technology and the Greater Human Good
Anders Sandberg - Ethics and Impact of Brain Emulations
Carl Shulman - Could We Use Untrustworthy Human Brain Emulations to Make Trustworthy Ones

It seems that only a fraction of all the talks are available as videos. Will the others be released later?

I just wrote them a message asking whether they intend to upload videos of the remaining talks in the future. I will post their reply here, if and when I hear back from them.

Here's their reply:

We'll be putting up more videos as Adam Ford edits them, though we'll probably stick to a selection of the best quality recordings. However, there will be quite a few more (including a lot of interviews) on Adam's on youtube page, which can be found here.

Slight correction. It was the “2012 Winter Intelligence Conference.”

Thanks, corrected. It's a bit confusing, since the credits at the beginning of each video say "Winter Intelligence | University of Oxford 2013".

The labeling isn't very confusing right now, but in 9 months it will be.

That's true. Adam is kindly updating videos with the correct year, and we'll reupload shortly. He's done excellent and professional work for the conference.

As an FYI, the FHI's not planning to have a Winter Intelligence Conference in winter 2013, as we're pretty busy getting new projects off the ground. The expectation is that we'll continue having them at two year intervals for now (the previous WIC was in January 2011), although this isn't set in stone. This year's AGI conference will be in Beijing July 31- August 3 (last year's was hosted in Oxford as part of the WIC)

Same talks can also be found at Adam Ford's channel. It also has other interesting videos like this interview with Robin Hanson.
