Discussion article for the meetup : Penn State University: NEW Meetup starting!

WHEN: 22 October 2011 02:00:00PM (-0400)

WHERE: Panera bread: 148 South Allen Street State College, PA 16801

I'll be hosting a meetup at the Panera Bread meeting room on Oct. 22nd in State College! We'll be introducing ourselves, playing rationality games, and discussing what comes to mind. I was exposed to a lot of cool things at the Mini-camp in San Francisco this summer, and I'm eager to spread them around!

This meetup is mostly structured around getting to know each other, but future ones will have discussions about the sequences and current research results as well as more games and many other topics. Hope to see you there!

I really wish someone would start a meetup near Philly. Is there anyone near Philly that would even be interested...?

There was one a while ago, and it looks like there are some LessWrongians in the area.

Thank you.

I am, I've been hoping someone else would do the organizing.

Same here, more or less. I've considered it, but college is keeping me busy.

I'll be there.

I'm going to come out and say it: YESSS!! I will definitely be there. I tried a while ago to get a meetup started in Central PA, but there apparently wasn't any interest then. Great to hear that there are now some other LessWrongians in State College!

I've already met another LWer since I moved here a month ago, but I'm pretty excited to meet more!

I'm a LW newbie(lurker, just created this to post) in the SC/UP area, but I don't think I can make this meetup. If it works out that I can I will be there.

There will certainly be more meetups! My current plan is to hold something biweekly, but I need to see what the spread of visitors is before I commit to a specific time/place. Thanks for letting me know you're interested!
