Do LW people care about chess / checkers / Go / etc. skill or is it a kindergarten-level brag?
In general, how many LW people play chess or other sequential games with perfect information? React with googly eyes (👀) if you play chess / checkers / Go / etc.
(Personally, I'm 2350+ in bullet - normal chess - and 2100+ in Crazyhouse on Lichess. On a good week.)
Also, while we are at it, are you interested in those games? I'm absolutely fascinated by chess because it's like a mathematical problem, yet it's filled with semantics. I.e. it's very similar to the real world and a lot of things make intuitive or aesthetic sense.
I’m not very interested in chess, mainly because I don‘t find games with a high degree of memorization and possibility for theoretically optimal play to be interesting. Maybe I’m over-generalizing but I prefer more social/bluffing games where it’s possible to win at a disadvantage with mind games. Always liked card games like poker and MTG more though I don’t play regularly any more. I recognize the intelligence and skill of top chess players but personally find it boring.
