Hope it's okay to post this here - I know we've got a lot of folks in the Bay Area.

Linked to the hackernews discussion as it qualifies the seriousness of the report, but I recommend reading the source too.

This is not a great place for local, time-sensitive, low-relevant-content announcements.  Given the press that it's gotten, I'll be SHOCKED if anyone here who needs to know it didn't already.

edit: removed my downvote - I don't want to see a lot of this on LW, but it's not harmful and doesn't deserve to be negative.

I live in the Bay Area and I don't check the news in detail daily. I knew we have more rain coming but found this post helpful in increasing the salience of the storm and the precautions I might want to take.

Given the range of incredibly niche and personal things people post on LW, I think posting this here is perfectly fine.

FWIW, I am close to meeting that criteria. I basically only check LW and HN as my media sources, and I check each of those multiple times a day. I hadn't seen the HN post on the severe weather warning (I must have skimmed over it) but did see this post. I don't live in Bay Area though.
