pascal's bargain: religious rituals may be a cheap way to purchase deep spiritual experiences in expectation.
pascal's wager hinges on the promise of max utility in the hereafter. but many rituals -- for some reason, i'm thinking specifically of a river baptism, though my only knowledge of these is from hollywood -- are cheap (few hours of time), and have outcomes that range from merely fun (jump in a river! sing a song!) to deeply transformative (refresh your connection with the good).
it seems potentially worth exploring these even without any theistic attachment.
