Yes, all the posts on my Substack are getting automatically cross posted. As far as I know there's not a way for me to tell LessWrong to ignore some posts (you all control the cross-post mechanism).
But these monthly update posts that are mostly about book progress are generally and correctly classified as "personal blog" rather than "frontpage" so I haven't worried too much about if I say something about Substack since I suspect that's where most people read them (though since there's new view counts here I guess I don't know).
Last week I wrote two posts that I didn’t post here. You should read them.
The first makes the claim that minimum viable AGI is already here. The second is my take on what to do about it.
I can’t understate how important it is to understand what’s going on right now with AI and the immediacy of the need for action.
That said, there’s only so much I can do about it, so I also have updates on the book.
Book Updates
I reached an important milestone yesterday: I finished revisions on Chapter 7, which is the last of the core chapters of the book. All that’s left is to do a revision pass on Chapters 8 and 9, which are “what’s next” chapters after having concluded the core arguments.
I have no idea how long they will take to revise. I hope not long, but they do contain a lot of words.
I really want to get the revisions finished and the book actively moving towards print publication soon, so I’m going to be taking a little break from blogging. Not entirely, but I’m going to switch to posting semi-monthly instead of weekly until I get all the revisions done.
Historically, I always write more than whatever target I set for myself, so I’ll probably write more. I just have to remember that the less I write here, the more progress I make on the book, and the sooner the book is done, the sooner I can focus on blog posts instead of book revisions.
