By default, this will be on the 20th, the actual day of the solstice. Depending on the weather, we may change it to the 21st, or some other weekend.
Location will probably be somewhere in Richmond park, but this isn’t definite yet. (Suggestions and opinions are welcome.) We’ll let you know the exact location closer to the event.
There’s going to be a phenomenological potluck. That is: you can bring an Experience that you think other people might choose to partake in, and you can partake in Experiences that other people bring. This is intentionally vague. Some possible Experiences: “cool toy you can play with”; “check this out, it tastes/smells great/awful/super weird!”; head scritching spider; “I will fight anyone who challenges me”; “close your eyes and I will lick you somewhere”.
(Please don’t feel like you can’t do one of those things just because it’s on the list. If we get 30 people all offering to lick and/or fight each other, we’ll be happy.)
Contributions and Coordination
During the event, we want you to be free to do what you feel like in the moment. We encourage you not to strongly commit to any specific plans. That said, some things are more fun when you do them with other people, and some options are only available if someone brings the required material (or some other preparations). So in order to allow for more options, and ultimately more freedom, we’ll have some coordination mechanisms.
Coordination mechanism 1: The contributions spreadsheet. If there is something you might want to organise, and want to gauge interest, or maybe something you predict that you will definitely want to do, and you want to build hype, add it to this spreadsheet (https://shorturl.at/jhDzz). Also vote on others’ contributions (approval voting) to let them know your interest. Nothing here is a commitment! Neither adding something or voting is a promise.
Coordination mechanism 2: The coordination bell. There will be a bell. Sometimes someone will ring the bell. Every time the bell rings, this is a Schelling point to propose and start activities that involve multiple people.
We invite you to bring solstice traditions from your home country. (Your home country might not be a country that literally exists on planet Earth.)
Food and Drink
As a group, we’ll need a bunch of food and drink. If we don’t have enough, it’s unlikely to be a disaster, but we’ll need to orient to that situation somehow. You could consider bringing some to make this less likely.
Come hang out and celebrate the summer solstice!

This is a time of spontaneity, lightness, abundance, following whims and passions. Magic: The Gathering colors red and green (https://homosabiens.substack.com/p/the-mtg-color-wheel).
