A 2026-09-18 podcast in the New York Times "The Techno-Religion at the Center of the A.I. Debate" focuses a lot on the Rationalist Movement, Doomers v. Accelerationist debates, and the philosophical foundations thereof including an explanation of Roko’s Basilisk.
In a round about, way it led me to EY's January 1st, 2007 post "The Power of Intelligence" which was so clear and prescient.
In the post, I especially liked this statement: "If you are temporarily ignorant about a phenomenon, that is a fact about your current state of mind, not a fact about the phenomenon. A blank map does not correspond to a blank territory."
It seems relevant to today's discussions re alignment, how to get there, and what lies ahead.
