I saw this on Reddit, I thought I'd share it here.

Any thoughts?

"Scientists to simulate human brain inside a supercomputer"

The title of this post is denotationally insane (it's obvious that nobody is close to simulating a human brain yet, so the title must be a sensational misrepresentation).

Simply to replicate one of the 10,000 neuron brain cells involved in the rat experiment took the processing capacity usually found in a single laptop.

Good lord, what sort of neuron model are they running? There had got to be a way to optimize that.

Anyone looking for more information should search for the term "Blue Brain Project", as the project had (under that name) actually achieved something.
