Memetics is the study of how ideas change and spread, in particular emphasizing analogy to evolutionary biology. In this framework, a key consideration is that an idea or memes ability to propagate in a given context, discussion, culture, or environment, is determined by its relative fitness in that environment, and this in turn determines its prevalence in the future.
