We realized that one of the very important things that rationalists need is a put down artist community, as opposed to the pick up artist community which already exists but isn't of much use. This is because of the very large number of rationalists who get into relationships but then aren't able to figure out how to get out of them.
Did any interesting discussion take place that the rest of us might like to hear about, or was it all social primate stuff? (Nothing wrong with social primate stuff, of course.)
This looks like an excellent event, and I'd love to meet the SIAI/LW folks, but sadly it is outside biking distance for me.

Michael Vassar and I will be attending the Quantum to Cosmos Festival of the Perimeter Institute. Is anyone interested in meeting up at the Symposium Cafe on 4 King St N, Waterloo, ON, Canada, on Sunday at 6pm on October 18th 2009? I might duck out at around 8pm, but Michael Vassar seems more likely to stick around. Result: Okay, we have exactly two people RSVPing (I was hoping for three). We'll show up at the Symposium Cafe at 6pm, possibly walk around or head out to elsewhere by 6:30pm (i.e., join the meetup by 6:30pm if you want to be part of the walking-around group), and we've both got a talk we want to attend at 8:00pm.
