Focusing refers to a family of introspective techniques whose aim is to access one's "gut" or "System 1" feelings. Archetypically, attention is focused on sensations within the body until one can find a satisfactory verbal label for the underlying feeling which can subsequently be processed, or something. Focusing draws in name from the book and technique by psychologist, Eugene Gendlin, and since his introduction, some have developed their own variations [1].
